Christ Centered - Character Strong - College Bound

We Believe

Foundational Statement

Up Christian Academy (UCA) is founded upon a trinity of upward pathways towards preparation, progress, and promise for scholars to become Christ-centered, college-bound, character-strong and community-focused productive citizens. Building on an innovative and researched based educational philosophy, students will be taught highly specific literacy and computational strategies, along with developing the tools to be critical thinkers, collaborators, problem solvers and lifelong learners. UCA’s unique model will promote all students’ academic success by using a rigorous curriculum, intensive data-driven instruction, and by working to retain strong teachers.

The school culture will be deeply rooted in the traditions and culture that Historically Black Colleges and Universities were founded on, with the core values of being Christ-centered and college-bound. In addition to exceptional instructional rigor, UCA will offer exceptional fine arts programming, sports programming, and birth to college wraparound supports.

With the desire to establish a rich legacy in the city of Milwaukee by harnessing the pride of culture, faith and community, UP Christian Academy (UCA) will provide a Christ-centered education that will place all scholars on the trajectory of completing college. Located in the 53209 zip code where two-third of the children live below the poverty line, UCA will be a school in the community, for the community, by the community. Wrap-around services will help children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. UCA seeks to transform the community one student at a time by providing them with access to an exceptional education and a Christ-centered foundation so that they can establish generational success for themselves, their family and ultimately effect transformative change in their community.

UCA Pillars

Core Values

Biblical Foundation

UCA is founded on the belief that faith and trust in a loving God provides an essential sense of hope for urban youth.

Village Approach

It takes a village to educate a child. UCA is committed to building deep, authentic, loving and supportive relationships amongst all members of its community. UCA will foster investment in our children amongst teachers, coaches, clergy, parents, neighbors, business and community members, so that every child feels the love and support of caring adults.

Christian Values

Before teaching young people how to read and write, we must feed their souls. We must offer a solution to whatever they face. While schools need strong curriculum, excellent teachers, and innovative programs; meeting this greatest need, unfortunately, has been eliminated from public education. Separation between church and state has left our scholars open and vulnerable. Teaching scholars how to love their neighbors, how to turn the other cheek, and how to forgive, are far more valuable than simply being proficient on state standards.

High Academic Expectations

In UCA’s culture, students affirm “I Can” and staff affirm “We Will”! UCA staff and students will pursue excellence that exceeds what is expected or what is imagined.

Character-Based Approach

A strong character development focus will teach children to practice and reflect attitudes and actions that the Bible teaches as virtues. UCA students and staff members will aspire to demonstrate the qualities of: love; joy; peace; patience; kindness; goodness; faithfulness; gentleness; self-control; compassion; humility; forgiveness; righteousness; mercy; and justice.
